I started at 240 lbs in 2011. In March 2012 at which time, I signed up with Bodyzone Fitness. By December 2012, I was down to 196 lbs and By March of 2013, I was at 187 lbs. Before my journey began, I was like many people out there; high stress office type job, young family and all the responsibilities that come with it. I wasn’t lazy but I was tired all the time. I wasn’t active but I was busy. I didn’t sleep well. My doctor was starting to warn me about being too heavy, getting older and all the health risks that came with it. I had old injuries that I would keep re-injuring every time I got motivated and went to the gym. It was a cycle I had been repeating for almost 10 years.
Then it changed.
I met Lisa Revealey though my wife Amy. By this time Amy had been working with Lisa for a year and was doing great. Lisa and I spent some time talking about want I wanted to do, how to start, where to start and how to protect myself from getting injured. I signed up for personal training with Body Zone twice a week and got going. From there I worked on changing my diet. Through Lisa I was introduced to Cesar Pineda, who owns FUEL in Coquitlam. He set me up with the right mix of vitamins and supplements. He also refined a meal plan for me.
I started seeing tangible results. My weight dropped every week. My clothes didn’t fit me anymore. I was now only tired at the end of the day and started sleeping much better.
About 6 months in I switched from personal training to The Zone fitness classes. Then I started running on my own. I went from “getting through” the sessions to wanting them. I now look forward to getting together every Monday and Thursday with my Zone crew. The Saturday run with my wife is a weekly treat.
A year ago I couldn’t run around the block. I had emerging health issues. Now, I can run 10K. I have energy to burn. I feel better. I look better. I am better.
Nothing changes until something changes. For me, that was Body Zone.
